The Noble Pen for Apr 23, 2020

On-line meetings

We have gone to on-line meetings for the duration of the coronavirus problem, and they are working well. To participate, you can use the Zoom app on your smartphone, laptop, or desktop computer with a microphone. Use of a camera is optional. You can also call in with any phone but it would be long-distance if those rates apply to you.

For further details and the meeting ID number, contact us.

In the meantime, if you want a take-out meal, it would be good to patronize our usual host, Scott’s Restaurant. Check their hours.

Victories

Dylan wrote four chapters of Allegro and repaired his fiction website.
Troy recently wrote several chapters, now up to 10 since he was last at the group.
Stacie’s story is now up to 82k words, from a start as a short story of five pages.
Aime got a new laptop, which will make writing easier.

Shannon has the elevated status of “essential personnel.” Despite the increased demand on his time, he plans to come up with an Apr 9 submission.
We are successful in using on-line meetings, which seem surprisingly like in-person meetings, except for the menu, which leaves Randy and Bill craving chocolate pie.

Prepare for on-line meetings

With the growing threat of the corona virus, and some of our members in the higher risk categories, it is planned that we will do on-line meetings via Zoom.

This will require use of a smartphone, desktop computer, or other device with internet access and a microphone. Use of a camera will be optional. Instructions for connecting will be sent to the email distribution list.

Meeting Cancellation Policy

With the growing threat of the corona virus, if it causes Kirkwood College, local schools, or the restaurant to close, we will not attempt a meeting.

This mirrors our severe weather policy, where we mostly follow Kirkwood’s plan for evening classes.

Victories

Nick finished reading a classic on his list, Random Harvest.

Dylan recovered from getting behind on writing and has built up a buffer of material for his weekly postings on his site.
